Pepperfield!

1) Excellent location! ! excellent
2) 100% clean
3) 100% new
4) it's a very religeous muslim dominated building, and street, which made me feel a bit, at the bigining, like "oh i dont belong to this community", but they were really really really nice to me
5) Its very small
6) the rooms are nice! the double rooms spacious, in contrast to the normal rooms which are ok, and maybe a bit small
7) there are only 1 toilet (no shower), and one shower
8) the kitchen is quite small, the washing machine is there, with one fridge with freezer, and one freezer appart so that leaves with just enough space to put a table, and that makes the kitchen really packed.
9) the entrance to the building is quite dirty
10) is it safe? i dont know
11) for everything else: contact the agency

Overall Mark:: 6 (out of 10)
  • Its VERY small
  • there is hardly enough space to move
  • there is only one toilet (clearly not enough for 4 people)
  • there is only one shower (clearly we are going to be fighting for the use of it)
  • and the six points come from: location, cleanlyness

Lecture Highlights

  1. Inventories and photographs when you move in so owner can't accuse you of damaging anything
  2. Report all repairs
  3. Make sure there's a radiator - heating not req'd by law
  4. Make sure the landlord won't plonk you with a professional cleaning bill before you leave
  5. LOCATED NEAR A SUPERMARKET (this is in the booklet. i have proof!)
  6. Everything in writing (well common sense really)
  7. Photo of average flat in zone 1 looked really sad but I just rmbred we won't be spending much time at home anw
  8. Make sure the contract you sign is exactly the same as the contract you were shown
  9. Be very clear about how you go abt claiming back the housing deposit, get it in writing
